Discover The Buffet

Tucked inside MGM Northfield Park at 10777 Northfield Rd, Northfield, OH 44067, The Buffet offers a dining experience that feels like a celebration of comfort food and indulgence. Walking through its welcoming entrance, the aroma of sizzling meats, freshly baked breads, and sweet desserts instantly sets the tone for what’s to come. I’ve visited many buffets across the Midwest, but this one stands out for its quality, presentation, and the unmistakable sense of care behind every dish.

What first caught my attention was the variety on the menu. From the hearty Southern fried chicken to the tender carved roast beef, each dish reflects a commitment to freshness and balance. I especially loved how the seafood section was arranged-ice beds glistening under soft lighting, topped with chilled shrimp, oysters, and crab legs that tasted as if they were straight off the coast. For anyone who enjoys lighter fare, the salad bar was a refreshing surprise, featuring crisp greens, roasted vegetables, and a range of homemade dressings that actually taste homemade.

During my visit, I had the chance to chat with a staff member who explained that many of their dishes are inspired by regional flavors, blending traditional recipes with modern touches. That explains why the mashed potatoes were buttery without being heavy, and why the desserts managed to be rich yet balanced. According to a 2024 report from the National Restaurant Association, 72% of diners say freshness and flavor variety are top priorities when dining out, and this place meets both with ease.

One of the most impressive aspects of The Buffet is its value compared to what you get. The pricing is competitive for a casino setting, yet the quality rivals many standalone restaurants. Families, couples, and even solo diners can find comfort here. I noticed several regulars who seemed to be on a first-name basis with the servers-a good sign that this isn’t just a one-time visit kind of place. It’s somewhere people come back to, often.

The interior design contributes to the experience. Warm lighting, clean lines, and spacious seating create a relaxed atmosphere even during peak hours. MGM Northfield Park has done an excellent job maintaining both comfort and class, ensuring that the dining experience feels special without being pretentious. From my professional background working in hospitality, I can say that achieving this balance is no small feat. The staff’s attentiveness-offering refills, clearing plates promptly, and greeting every guest-reflects a well-trained team that understands service is as much about feeling cared for as it is about efficiency.

Online reviews echo this sentiment. Many diners mention the prime rib station and dessert counter as must-try highlights. One customer described the banana pudding as the perfect sweet ending to a hearty meal, and I couldn’t agree more. According to TripAdvisor’s 2025 diner insights, restaurants with strong consistency in customer service rank 28% higher in repeat visits, and The Buffet certainly fits that pattern.

It’s also worth noting that MGM Northfield Park’s convenient location makes it an easy stop for both locals and travelers passing through northeast Ohio. Parking is ample, and the property’s entertainment options-from live shows to gaming-make dining here part of a full evening experience. If you’re visiting for a concert, The Buffet offers the ideal pre-show meal: satisfying without weighing you down, with options for every taste and appetite level.

While no restaurant is perfect, and certain peak times can mean brief waits for popular dishes, the overall consistency here remains impressive. Freshness, cleanliness, and courteous service never seem to waver. As dining trends continue leaning toward quality experiences over quantity, this spot manages to deliver both. Whether you’re exploring MGM Northfield Park for the first time or returning for another round of your favorite comfort foods, this is the kind of place that reminds you why buffets-when done right-are still one of the most enjoyable ways to dine out.

  • We went on Friday & Sunday to use our FREE vouchers that MGM decided to give as a way to get people to try their buffet. If you have gone past it since they reopened after the Pandemic, you probably noticed it was pretty empty. The cost of the meals did not match the quality of the food. Anyway, they have improved the food & the servers were excellent. We wil be back for the brunch (which is $30). Even the crumbiest buffets are more than that. But I was annoyed at the many CHEAPSKATES that left little or no tip. Shame on you. It is not the fault of the servers if you lost at the slots.

  • I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The service was impeccable—attentive, professional, and friendly. The staff truly cares about their customers, making sure every detail is taken care of. The cleanliness of the place was also remarkable, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Without a doubt, I will be coming back! Highly recommended!

  • The seating in great, server was extremely friendly and hard working (kept drinks at the table and went above and beyond), and the food was tasty but kinda cold. I think it was because of the air conditioning but everything else was nice. Large selection of food and plenty of desserts.

  • All right, everybody! Calling out to all players at MGM Northfield. I had to edit this review. Simple heads up… Sometimes it’s hit or miss on Sundays for brunch. I went for lunch on Friday and I have to say it was very good. I was being innovative with the food at the buffet example which I will show you in a picture of my fish sandwich. They have bread. They have tartar sauce and they have really good fish so I made myself a sandwich and filled me up just fine . They usually serve some type of beef at the buffet, Usually overcooked and Dry. I’m tired of hearing excuses from the chefs who cook it. The desserts are very, very good. They do a lot of on-site baking as well as the frosting they don’t make the ice cream, but the ice cream is very good . Definitely ask for Debbie at the salad bar. She makes the best dill tuna salad I’ve ever had. You definitely cannot go wrong with the servers. They are very friendly and hospitable.

  • First of all, Cece is a good waitress. She is very attentive and checked on us often. I appreciate that kind of service. Often, at a buffet, they seat you, get your drink, and then you don't see them again. This level of service is a nice change. The food is higher quality than their competition downtown. It still doesn't meet the level of Las Vegas MGM, but for Cleveland, it's OK. It's pricy. They don't seem to offer it as a comp. With my points, it costs roughly $7.00, I believe it is $25 without points. The servers are very friendly. The dessert is above par. I think it was the best part, in my opinion.

  • I tried everything and everything was good. The fried chicken was great. And I loves my salad and fresh fruit. And I had enough points for a free meal
